Ministry of Foreign Affairs Establishes 'International AI Diplomacy Division'..."AI, a Game Changer in International Affairs"
On the 26th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the establishment of the 'International Artificial Intelligence Diplomacy Division' to proactively respond to AI-related issues amid rapidly changing international circumstances.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has viewed AI as a 'game changer' in international affairs from economic and security perspectives, paying close attention to its potential and influence in related fields. Last year, it consecutively hosted international conferences such as the 'Democracy Summit' focused on AI in March, the 'AI Seoul Summit' in May, and the 'High-Level Meeting on the Responsible Military Use of AI (REAIM)' in September.
Launched as an autonomous body within the Ministry, the International Artificial Intelligence Diplomacy Division will undertake tasks including ▲bilateral cooperation on AI with major countries such as the United States ▲participation in multilateral AI-related discussions at the United Nations, the Group of Seven (G7), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) ▲and cooperation with relevant domestic ministries and agencies.
