Suwon City Challenges to Collect Over 40 Billion Won in Delinquent Taxes for 10 Consecutive Years
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is challenging itself to collect more than 40 billion won in overdue payments for 10 consecutive years.
On the 26th, Suwon City announced that it has set a collection target of 44.2 billion won in total overdue payments this year, including 32.1 billion won in local tax arrears and 12.1 billion won in non-tax revenue arrears. Since 2016, Suwon has collected more than 40 billion won annually in local tax and non-tax revenue arrears for nine consecutive years.
To achieve its collection goals, Suwon City will carry out strong overdue payment collection activities. First, it will operate a mobile task force to track high-amount defaulters with arrears exceeding 5 million won, conducting home searches and seizing movable property. Additionally, administrative sanctions such as public disclosure of names, travel bans, and registration in public record information will be imposed on chronic and high-amount defaulters. The city plans to frequently check assets and seize and collect all properties including real estate, vehicles, and deposits.
