Reopening of Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall... Significant Expansion of Digital Exhibits
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day and the March 1st Movement, the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall located in Jung-gu, Seoul, will significantly expand its digital exhibits and reopen.
On the 26th, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced on the 25th that it will hold a reopening ceremony for the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall with about 50 attendees, including Minister Kang Jeong-ae, Kim Hwang-sik, Chairman of the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Association, Ahn Ui-saeng, a relative of Ahn Jung-geun, Yoo Young-ryeol, Director of the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall, Kim Dong-su, Chairman of the Patriots Honors Club, the 2030 Advisory Group, and supporters. The memorial hall will be open for viewing from March 1st after the reopening ceremony.
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs has been working since October last year on creating digital exhibition spaces at the Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall, Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall, and Baekbeom Kim Gu Memorial Hall. On the 24th, the Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall was reopened. The Baekbeom Kim Gu Memorial Hall will open anew in April.
The Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall, which opened in 2010, installed a large LED wall in the lobby to display videos of Ahn Jung-geun’s calligraphy and replaced the graphics in exhibition rooms 1 through 3 entirely. Additionally, the process from the Harbin assassination to the legal battles, exhibited in the third exhibition room, has been digitally revamped.

Minister Kang stated, “The creation of digital exhibition spaces in major memorial halls, including the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall, is an important project that goes beyond simple spatial changes to remember and inherit the lives of independence patriots and the history of the independence movement through modern communication methods.” She added, “The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs will continue to make multifaceted efforts to widely promote the noble spirit of independence of our ancestors.”
