Gyeonggi-do Food Plaza, Various Educational and Experiential Events Including Cooking Classes
Gyeonggi Province will operate various food-related programs and experiential events for residents, including seasonal cooking classes, at the ‘Gyeonggi-do Food Plaza’ this year.
The Gyeonggi-do Food Plaza is a multipurpose space located in Seodun-dong, Suwon City, at the Gyeonggi Sangsang Campus, equipped with offices, studios, and shared kitchens. It opened in October last year to promote healthy eating habits and raise awareness of local food among residents.
Ahead of the full-scale operation of the Food Plaza, Gyeonggi Province welcomed 1,617 visitors through a pilot program in December last year. This year, based on the success of the pilot project, various programs will be offered to make it easier and more enjoyable for residents to participate.
First, from April to November, a seasonal food cooking class will be held once a week for 30 sessions, targeting around 240 participants. The program includes theoretical lessons on the nutritional information and cooking methods of seasonal ingredients, along with hands-on experiential education.
Additionally, from May to November, a monthly food culture experience program will be conducted. About 100 participants will be recruited to enjoy diverse programs such as food-related film screenings, making dishes featured in movies taught by influencers, and cooking recipes from books together with authors.
Other events include the 1st anniversary celebration of the Food Plaza (June) and special food experience exhibitions (June and October).
Gyeonggi Province will open the cooking studio and seminar rooms for use by all residents. Reservations can be made through the Gyeonggi Shared Services website (https://share.gg.go.kr). Facility bookings for the following month can be made starting at 9 a.m. on the 15th of each month.
