"Consumer Sentiment Index Slightly Rises in February"
The Consumer Sentiment Index for the Gwangju and Jeonnam region showed a slight increase in February compared to the previous month.
According to the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Bank of Korea on the 24th, a consumer trend survey conducted on 600 households in the Gwangju and Jeonnam region from the 6th to the 13th revealed that this month's Composite Consumer Sentiment Index (CCSI) was 84.5, up 1.1 points from the previous month's 83.4. The national CCSI for this month was 95.2, up 4.0 points from the previous month's 91.2.
The Consumer Sentiment Index is a psychological indicator calculated using six major indices from the Consumer Survey Index (CSI). Based on the long-term average (from January 2003 to December 2024) set at 100, a value above 100 indicates more optimism than the long-term average, while a value below 100 indicates pessimism.
The Current Living Conditions CSI (81) rose by 1 point from the previous month, and the Living Conditions Outlook CSI (83) increased by 2 points. The Household Income Outlook CSI (90) and Consumption Expenditure Outlook CSI (101) each fell by 1 point compared to the previous month, while the Current Economic Assessment CSI (46) rose by 5 points.
The Employment Opportunity Outlook CSI (63) increased by 1 point from the previous month, but the Price Level Outlook CSI (141), Housing Price Outlook CSI (91), and Wage Level Outlook CSI (111) each fell by 1 point compared to the previous month.
