Yeosu City Selects Winning Design for Environmental Library Remodeling Contest
Targeting Reopening in December Next Year
Yeosu City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Chung Kimyung) announced on the 21st that the design proposal by Wudo Architects & Engineers Co., Ltd. was selected as the final winner in the design competition for the Environmental Library remodeling project.
According to the city, a total of five entries were submitted for this competition, and a strict evaluation was completed by a panel of experts on the 19th.

View original imageThe winning design was praised for overcoming the existing library's spatial limitations by connecting with the external park and creating diverse spaces through inter-floor connectivity, as well as effectively expressing the characteristics of a landmark that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape.
Based on the selected design, the city plans to begin detailed design services within this month, carry out administrative procedures, start construction in November, and aim for reopening in December next year.
A city official stated, "The Environmental Library remodeling project aims to strengthen its identity as a library specialized in environment and ecology and to provide essential environmental education to the future generation of children and youth," adding, "We will further develop the winning proposal and prepare for reopening without any setbacks."
