"Lee Jae-myung Is on the Right Path (正道)"... Lee Kwang-jae Expresses Support Introducing Roh's Pragmatism
Introducing Roh Moo-hyun's Past Remarks on Pragmatism
"A Party Where Rational Conservatives, Centrists, and Rational Progressives Unite"
Lee Kwang-jae, former Secretary General of the National Assembly and a close aide to former President Roh Moo-hyun, has defined and expressed support for Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and his 'centrist-conservative theory' as pragmatism.
On the 20th, Lee posted on social media (SNS) an article titled "Let's Open the Era of New Click, Up Click," stating, "Let's end the rigid frames of left-click and right-twist and outdated criticisms," addressing the controversy surrounding the party's direction. He said, "We must go beyond ideology and follow the path of pragmatism," adding, "We should be a party where rational conservatives, centrists, and rational progressives come together. Leader Lee Jae-myung is on the right path."
Lee also stated, "Those who support martial law are no longer conservatives," emphasizing, "The Democratic Party must become a party where rational conservatives, centrists, and rational progressives unite, not extremes."
Introducing past remarks by former President Roh, he stressed the importance of a centrist pragmatic approach. Lee recalled that Roh once said, "After becoming president, I realized that a progressive president cannot implement all progressive policies, and a conservative president cannot apply all conservative policies. Ultimately, the way is to base policies on the center, borrowing from both progressive and conservative policies, eventually moving toward the middle," and argued, "Politics should not be the center; rather, the 'fate of the people' and the 'lives of the people' must be at the center."
