According to the Gwangju Election Commission on the 20th, registration for the first nationwide simultaneous Saemaeul Geumgo chairman election closed with 48 candidates registered across 35 credit unions in Gwangju.
In Jeonnam, 66 candidates registered for 50 credit unions.
Registered candidates may campaign in accordance with the methods stipulated by the Public Official Election Act from the 20th until the day before the election, which is March 4.
Candidates and campaign staff may make direct phone calls or send text messages (excluding voice, video, or multimedia messages) to voters. However, electioneering via phone calls or text messages is restricted from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the following day.
They may also post messages or videos on online bulletin boards or social networking service (SNS) chat rooms, or send emails.
The election commission will post the candidate campaign posters submitted by the candidates on the main office bulletin boards of the credit unions until the 24th, and will mail out election brochures and voting information by the 25th.
