Gyeonggi-do to Conduct Intensive Collection of 'Yeongnong Waste' Until April 30
Gyeonggi Province will operate an "Intensive Collection Period for Agricultural Waste" until April 30 to promote the collection and recycling of agricultural waste generated from farming activities.
During the intensive collection period, Gyeonggi Province will focus on collecting agricultural waste such as discarded agricultural plastic film and pesticide containers left in farmland, and will promote proper separation and disposal methods as well as the agricultural waste collection reward system to activate recycling.
The collection activities will promote the correct disposal methods of agricultural waste through village chief meetings and encourage participation from local residents, regional agricultural cooperatives, and farming organizations. Additionally, to encourage collection, farmers who bring rural waste plastic film and pesticide containers to joint collection centers will be paid according to the recycling grade: 80 to 160 KRW per kilogram for plastic film, 100 KRW per bottle for pesticide containers, and 80 KRW per bag.
Lee Yong-gyun, Director of the Resource Circulation Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Agricultural waste should also reduce waste volume and increase resource circulation through recycling," and urged, "We ask for active participation and cooperation from farmers for a sustainable rural environment."
