Gwangju City to Recruit 210 Local Public Officials This Year
195 Hired in the First Half, 15 in the Second... Double Last Year’s Figure
Reflecting Administrative Needs for World Archery Championships, Subway Construction, and More
Gwangju City announced on the 19th that it has finalized the recruitment scale for local government officials in 2025 at 210 positions. This is more than double the number of recruits compared to last year's 105.
The city increased the recruitment scale this year to meet demands such as preparations for the World (Para) Archery Championships, the creation of a Dajabo (public transportation, bicycle, and pedestrian-oriented) city, the completion of phase 1 and commencement of phase 2 construction of Subway Line 2, among others.
The recruitment exam will be held in two rounds. In the first half, 195 positions across 19 job categories including researchers will be hired, while in the second half, 15 positions across 6 job categories including research and guidance officers will be recruited. By job group: ▲Administrative 101 ▲Technical 93 ▲Research/Guidance 16; by rank: ▲Grade 7: 10 ▲Grade 9: 184 ▲Research Officer: 15 ▲Guidance Officer: 1.
To expand opportunities for the socially disadvantaged and ensure diversity in public service, 8 positions are reserved for persons with disabilities, 5 for low-income individuals, and 3 for technical high school graduates, separate from general applicants. In addition, special accommodations such as separate exam rooms and enlarged test papers will be provided for persons with disabilities and pregnant women to ensure convenience during the exam.
Notably, from this year ▲the subject policy for 'Korean and English' in the Grade 8 and 9 open competitive exams has changed, resulting in the written exam time being adjusted from 100 to 110 minutes ▲the range of required certificates for the cadastral job category has changed ▲the 'Tree Doctor' certificate has been added to the list of extra credit certificates for the Grade 9 green space job category. Exams for the veterinary and some research job categories will be held in the first half of the year.
Applications for the first half exams, including Grade 9, can be submitted from April 24 to 28, and for the second half exams, including Grade 7, from July 21 to 25 via the Local Government Internet Application Center. The written exams will be held simultaneously nationwide on June 21 for the first half and November 1 for the second half. Final successful candidates will be announced in August and December, respectively. For more details, refer to the announcement posted in the 'Exam and Personnel Information' section on the Gwangju City website.
Kim Sangyul, Director of Personnel Policy, said, "This year, we have doubled the recruitment scale compared to last year to respond to new administrative demands and improve citizen services," and added, "We hope many talented individuals will apply, bringing vitality to the organizational culture and driving regional development."
