CJ CheilJedang to Sell Mandu and Tteokbokki at Guam US Military Base
Four Product Lines, Fourteen Varieties Debut at Base Grocery Store
Expansion Planned to US Military Bases in Japan, Hawaii, Alaska, and Beyond
CJ CheilJedang announced on the 19th that it will start selling K-food product lines such as plant-based dumplings, tteokbokki, Hetbahn, and cupbap at a large grocery store located within the Guam US military base.
The products being introduced this time include a total of 14 items across 4 categories: ▲3 types of plant-based Bibigo Wang Gyoza (Original, Kimchi, Japchae) ▲6 types of Bibigo Tteokbokki (Sweet, Cheese, Spicy; 3 types each in cup and pouch) ▲3 types of Hetbahn (white rice, black rice, germinated brown rice) ▲2 types of Hetbahn Cupbap (seaweed soup rice, yellow cream). Reflecting the characteristics of military bases where many places lack cooking facilities and there are many single soldiers, there is high demand for products that can be conveniently enjoyed by microwave heating.

Since starting sales last April at US military bases in Pyeongtaek and Osan, it has also received positive responses from soldiers. Plant-based dumplings and tteokbokki have each sold over 20,000 packs so far, with Japchae Wang Gyoza and Cheese Tteokbokki showing particularly high sales.
Currently, the global number of US military personnel, including reservists, is approximately 2.5 million, and the processed food (military mart and military meals) market at US military bases worldwide is estimated to be around 5 trillion KRW. CJ CheilJedang aims to expand from the Guam US military base to global US military bases such as Japan, Hawaii, and Alaska. The product lineup will also continue to grow to include frozen rice (frozen gimbap, rice balls, fried rice), K-street food (fried seaweed rolls, fish-shaped bread), vegan ham, chicken, and more.
