The total project budget of 5.6 billion KRW (100% national funding) has also been secured.
The Eupyeong area has recently experienced several flooding incidents, making the drainage improvement project essential to prevent damage to farmland and improve the farming environment. The basic plan was established and completed in 2024.
Jang Seil, the mayor of Yeonggwang County, has visited the National Assembly and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs multiple times to advocate for the necessity of this project and to ensure its swift progress.
The Eupyeong area drainage improvement project is scheduled to begin detailed design in 2025 and be completed by 2028. The plan includes the maintenance of one drainage pumping station, 0.8 km of drainage channels, and 22,307 cubic meters of backfill.
Mayor Jang stated, "We expect the Eupyeong area drainage improvement project to help prevent farmland flooding, improve the farming environment, and increase farmers' income," adding, "We will continue to work hard to make Yeonggwang County safer from disasters."
