Prosecutors Move Voice Phishing Prevention Call Center to Supreme Prosecutors' Office for Expansion and Reorganization
Relocation from Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office to Supreme Prosecutors' Office
Verify the authenticity of forged official documents and warrants
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office has relocated and expanded the voice phishing prevention call center, which was previously operated by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, to the Organized Crime Division of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
On the 18th, the Narcotics and Organized Crime Division (Chief Prosecutor Norman Seok) of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office announced that the "Voice Phishing Documents, 'Tell Me If It's Real' Call Center (Jjin Center)" previously operated by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office has been transferred to the Organized Crime Division of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
This decision was made based on the assessment that voice phishing criminal organizations impersonate national institutions such as the prosecution and use cleverly forged official documents and warrants, causing serious harm to innocent citizens.
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office stated, "The 'Jjin Center' system is operated so that citizens can immediately verify the authenticity when they receive names of prosecutors or investigators, warrants, or summonses via mobile phones, etc.," and added, "If you receive a suspicious voice phishing call, please hang up immediately and verify the authenticity of the prosecutor or investigator's name, warrant, summons, or other official documents by calling the direct number."
