Following meetings with former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo and former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, this meeting with Im is also being pursued, which is interpreted as a move toward party unity.
According to the Democratic Party on the 18th, Leader Lee will have a lunch meeting with former Chief Im on the 27th. The meeting is planned to proceed without any attendants, and the location is being arranged at a downtown restaurant.
Former Chief Im is considered a potential opposition leader aligned with the pro-Moon Jae-in faction. On the 3rd, he criticized Leader Lee via his social media platform Facebook, stating, "Leader Lee Jae-myung should start with an objective evaluation and reflection on the last presidential election even now."
Leader Lee will also have a dinner meeting with former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum on the 24th. This meeting will also proceed without attendants. On the 13th, he met with former Governor Kim Kyung-soo for about 90 minutes.
As the early presidential election phase approaches, he appears to be focusing on party unity by meeting consecutively with figures from the anti-Lee faction.
