Daejeon City to Recruit 353 New Public Officials This Year, 127 More Than Last Year
5 for Grade 7, 10 for Grade 8, 335 for Grade 9, and More
Daejeon City announced that it will recruit a total of 353 new public officials this year. This is an increase of 127 people (156.2%) compared to last year (226 people).
There will be 336 open competitive positions and 17 career competitive positions. By rank: ▲5 for grade 7 ▲10 for grade 8 ▲335 for grade 9 ▲3 for research positions. By occupational group: ▲202 for administrative positions ▲148 for technical positions ▲3 for research positions.
To expand public service opportunities for socially disadvantaged groups and secure diversity within the public sector, the city will separately recruit 27 people with disabilities, 10 from low-income backgrounds (grade 9 open competition), and 3 high school graduates (grade 9 career competition).
Starting this year, the recruitment process for veterinary positions will change, eliminating the written exam and selecting candidates only through document screening and interviews.
The question format for the grade 8 and 9 open competitive recruitment exams will also shift from knowledge-based memorization subjects such as Korean and English to a job suitability-focused approach, aiming to select candidates with the skills and competencies required for the job. With this change, the written exam time will be extended by 10 minutes, from the previous 100 minutes (5 subjects) to 110 minutes.
The first recruitment exam, for grade 7 veterinary positions, will accept applications from March 4 to 7, conduct interviews in March, and announce the final successful candidates on April 4.
The second recruitment exam, for grade 8 and 9 open competitive positions, will accept applications from March 24 to 28, hold the written exam on June 21, conduct interviews in August, and announce the final successful candidates on August 19.
The third recruitment exam, for grade 7, grade 9 high school graduate open competition, and research positions, will accept applications from July 21 to 25, hold the written exam on November 1, conduct interviews in December, and announce the final successful candidates on December 12.
Seo Sowon, Daejeon City’s Director of Human Resources Innovation, said, “We will strive to select outstanding talent suitable for the public sector through various innovations such as shifting to job suitability-focused written exams for grade 8 and 9 open competitions, simplifying the recruitment process for veterinary positions, and diversifying recruitment channels for socially disadvantaged groups.”
Applications can only be submitted through the Local Government Online Application Center, and candidates with disabilities and pregnant applicants may request accommodations according to their needs.
