Jinju City Holds Final Report Meeting on Garden Promotion and Expo Basic Plan Establishment

Rebranding Jinju as a Garden City Reflecting Its Unique Identity
Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that it held the ‘Final Report Meeting on the Establishment of the Basic Plan for Jinju City Garden Promotion and Garden Expo’ along with the ‘1st Garden Culture Creation and Promotion Committee Meeting of 2025’ at the City Hall Citizen Hall to revitalize garden culture and develop the garden industry.
The project to establish the basic plan for Jinju City Garden Promotion and Garden Expo began in February last year, held a mid-term report meeting in October to gather opinions from experts in various fields and conducted multifaceted discussions. Additionally, a public hearing was held in December last year to achieve promotional effects, and the comprehensive basic plan was developed reflecting the opinions of citizens and others presented.

View original imageAt the final report meeting, about 30 people including Mayor Cho Gyu-il, heads of related departments, and members of the Garden Culture Creation and Promotion Committee attended to discuss the phased promotion strategies and detailed implementation plans of the basic plan for garden promotion and garden expo to spread garden culture in Jinju City.
Regarding the establishment of the basic plan for garden promotion, a promotion strategy for Jinju as a ‘City within a Garden’ was established, and eight major tasks were set through sectoral spatial planning, reporting on ▲modern interpretation and popularization methods of Jinju garden enjoyment culture ▲realization of spatial welfare through the spread of garden culture in daily life ▲specialization of the garden industry using local resources ▲creation of regionally specialized hub spaces.
Regarding the establishment of the basic plan for the garden expo, strategies and directions were set to implement a Jinju-style garden expo model, reporting on ▲mid- to long-term phased plans for the Jinju Garden Expo ▲strategies to attract international garden expos.
Based on the contents of this report meeting, the city plans to contribute to the spread of popular garden culture reflecting the uniqueness of ‘Jinju,’ moving away from general and uniform policies, and to create an opportunity for the development of the garden industry.
Following the report meeting, the 1st Garden Culture Creation and Promotion Committee Meeting of 2025 was held to discuss the direction to move forward, including garden promotion strategies to spread garden culture and enhance the branding of ‘Jinju-like Gardens, Gardens within Jinju,’ as well as phased promotion plans for the Jinju Garden Expo.

Mayor Cho Gyu-il said, “Our city is a city that possesses garden assets like a jewel, Jinju. Through the basic plan for garden promotion and garden expo, we expect to raise the status of Jinju as a garden city, improve the quality of life of citizens, and contribute to revitalizing the local economy,” and added, “Please carefully review the opinions raised at this final report meeting and do your best to implement them step by step.”
