Father Arrested for Beating 2-Year-Old Daughter to Death and Abandoning Her for 6 Months
The biological father who beat his two-year-old daughter to death and left her body unattended for six months has been arrested.
The Seocheon Police Station in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 16th that they had arrested a man in his 20s, referred to as A, on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes (child abuse resulting in death) and abandonment of a corpse. The child's biological mother, a woman in her 20s referred to as B, is being investigated without detention on suspicion of abandoning the corpse.
A is suspected of beating his daughter's abdomen and other areas with his fist in early September last year, resulting in her death, and subsequently abandoning her body on the veranda of his home.
During the police investigation, A stated, "The baby was crying and fussing, so I hit her abdomen several times with my fist."
It is reported that the deceased child had not been accounted for since leaving her daycare center in July last year. The daycare director notified Seocheon County that the whereabouts of the child could not be confirmed, and the county office reported this to the police. On the evening of the 13th at around 8:05 p.m., the police found the child's body at A's residence in Seocheon-eup, Seocheon County.
It is known that the child's body was already significantly decomposed at the time of discovery.
The police have requested an autopsy of the child's body from the National Forensic Service and plan to investigate the couple in detail regarding the circumstances of the crime.
