The large flames of the fire that occurred at Muhak Girls' High School in Haengdang-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul have been brought under control.
According to the fire authorities, the fire that broke out around 1:29 PM was largely contained by 3:14 PM, two hours after it started. Nine minutes after the fire began, at 1:38 PM, a Level 1 response was issued, mobilizing all firefighters from the local fire station. A total of 96 firefighters and 26 vehicles were deployed for the extinguishing operation.

There were no casualties, but part of the dining building was destroyed, and out of 11 vehicles parked in the first-floor parking lot, 9 were completely burned while the remaining 2 were partially damaged.
Seongdong-gu Office sent a safety advisory text message asking residents and vehicles to detour due to restricted access and requested that windows be kept closed because of heavy smoke. Gu Office Chief Jeong Won-oh also visited the fire site to monitor the situation and instructed officials to assess the extent of the damage.

The police and fire authorities believe the fire started in a vehicle in the first-floor parking lot and plan to investigate the exact cause once the fire is fully extinguished. So far, there appears to be little indication of criminal suspicion.
