The signing ceremony was held with the attendance of about 20 officials, including Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang and President Choi Do-sung of Handong Global University. After sharing plans for the WGGF, they signed a mutual business agreement to ensure the successful execution of the event.
The agreement focuses on spreading ESG culture within the local community and realizing global values through the successful hosting of the WGGF. It includes continuous consultations and joint efforts on various practical matters related to the forum’s operation.
The World Green Growth Forum (WGGF) is an international forum scheduled to be held over two days from May 14 to 15 this year. Once the Pohang International Exhibition & Convention Center (POEX) opens in 2027, the forum will be held regularly every year to expand its scale and status.
In particular, with the core agenda of ‘Transitioning from a High Carbon Emission City to a Green City,’ the forum aims to go beyond a simple climate forum by serving as a platform for exchange among Pohang City, international organizations, academia, industry, research institutes, and citizens. The plan is to build a global network and develop the forum into Pohang’s signature international conference.
