The 2024 Winter Global Citizenship Education Program, part of the University Innovation Support Project (Director Song Changsoo), was held with the goal of enhancing qualities as global citizens and improving global communication skills. From the 7th to the 14th of last month, 54 participants in 13 teams took part in the eight-day, six-night program in Singapore.
This program included a variety of projects, such as learning about infectious disease response at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), checking the status of environmental education at local kindergartens in Singapore, and gaining aesthetic experiences by visiting the Red Dot Design Museum and the ArtScience Museum.
Students maximized their learning outcomes by directly experiencing various fields such as culture, education, and industry in the local environment, and developed the ability to actively respond to and adapt to the rapidly changing international environment.
The exploration topics were selected to help students set their future directions, including themes such as academics, global citizenship, volunteer work, and experiential learning.
A representative from the Honam University University Innovation Project Group said, "This program provided students with an opportunity to develop global competencies," adding, "By presenting and sharing the learning outcomes they acquired overseas, students improved their self-directed learning abilities and communication skills."
