Seocho-gu Expands Regular Emergency First Aid Training
Regular Training Held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays and Saturdays Each Month
'Visiting First Aid Training' Available for Groups of 20 or More
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will expand the regular first aid training for Seocho-gu residents and workers starting this year. The training sessions will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays and Saturdays of every month.
The expansion reflects the growing interest of residents in first aid methods. The training, which was previously held only on Saturdays, has been additionally scheduled on Thursdays to increase participation opportunities for residents. Furthermore, themed first aid courses by day and season will be offered for repeat attendees. After completing the training, participants who wish can receive a Seoul City certified certificate.
The training is conducted as an advanced lecture by Level 1 emergency medical technicians with extensive experience in handling emergency situations. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) lectures are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays and Saturdays each month. During these sessions, participants will also use the Emergency Medical Information Service (E·GEN) app to locate nearby Automated External Defibrillator (AED) locations. Using an AED increases the survival rate of cardiac arrest patients by more than three times.
On Thursdays, practical first aid methods applicable in daily life are emphasized, including wound treatment using dressing kits. On Saturdays, focused AED training is provided, featuring practice with new CPR mannequins and AEDs tailored for different age groups.
Training also covers emergency situations that may occur seasonally. In spring, pollen and respiratory diseases; in summer, water-related accidents; in autumn, bee stings; and in winter, frostbite, slips, and falls are addressed with seasonal accident response methods.
Additionally, the district operates a ‘Visiting First Aid Training’ program until the end of the year. For groups of 20 or more, professional instructors visit with practice equipment to conduct a 2-hour theoretical and practical training session on CPR and first aid, including AED usage. The training is free of charge.
