Jeonbuk Fire Department to Overhaul Integrated Special Health Examination Management System
Promoting Firefighters’ Health and Welfare
The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Fire Department will reorganize the special health checkup process for firefighters this year, shifting from the previous individual fire station-based approach to an integrated management system under the fire department headquarters.
According to Jeonbuk Fire Department on the 13th, this reorganization is part of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province's “Work Innovation Project,” aimed at reducing administrative burdens on local fire stations and establishing a more systematic and efficient health management system.

Last month on the 21st, the fire department held a meeting with representatives from medical institutions to implement the special health checkups, and completed consultations with six certified medical institutions in the province.
The health checkups will be conducted from next month until October at the following institutions: Daejain Hospital, Donggunsan Hospital, Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters, Iksan Hospital, Jeonju Hospital, and Jeongeup Asan Hospital.
Firefighters are constantly exposed to hazardous environments at disaster sites such as fires, rescues, and emergency responses, and are at high risk for health issues due to irregular lifestyles from shift work.
Accordingly, regular health management is essential, and through this integrated health checkup, the department plans to detect health issues early and provide prompt treatment and preventive measures.
Lee Osuk, head of the Fire Department, stated, “The health of firefighters is directly linked to the safety of our residents. Maintaining optimal condition enables quick and accurate responses in disaster situations, and we will continue to promote various policies to enhance the health and welfare of firefighters.”
