Gyeonggi Province Holds Capacity-Building Training for Newly Appointed Department Heads on the 12th
On February 12, Gyeonggi Province held a "Capacity-Building Training for Newly Appointed Department Heads" at Yulgok Hall on the 4th floor of the Gwanggyo Government Complex.
The training was attended by 25 civil servants who were promoted from Grade 5 to Grade 4 during the regular personnel appointments in January this year.
To strengthen the capabilities of senior officials taking on department head roles for the first time, Gyeonggi Province organized sessions for sharing know-how with former and current public officials who have held multiple department head positions.
During the "Senior Public Official Special Lecture," Kwon Doohyun, who has served as Director General of the Autonomous Administration Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, as well as Deputy Mayors of Ansan, Bucheon, Anyang, and Seongnam, and the Second Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs-and who is currently President of the Gyeonggi Province Administrative Alumni Association-gave a lecture on the roles and mindset required of department heads.
The "Coaching Expert Special Lecture" focused on the theme "Leaders Who Evolve with Change," featuring case-based lectures on leadership that resonates with the MZ Generation, performance and relationship management leadership, and the qualities of a respected leader.

View original imageDuring the "Current Directors and Department Heads' Know-how Sharing" session, current Gyeonggi Province officials, including Kang Hyunseok, Director General of the Future Lifelong Education Bureau, and Oh Gwangseok, Director of the Cultural Policy Division, shared their know-how for successfully performing department head roles.
Lee Junghwa, Director of Human Resources at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Department heads play a crucial bridging role within the organization, so it is essential to strengthen their capabilities in line with the changing administrative environment. Through this training, we will support newly appointed department heads to grow into core leaders who drive the development of the organization."

Meanwhile, since 2014, Gyeonggi Province has operated "Leadership Coaching" to enhance the leadership capabilities of Grade 4 department heads. Starting in 2024, the training has been expanded to include Grade 5 team leaders. This year, the province plans to further strengthen the management capabilities of senior officials by introducing new initiatives such as 2-to-1 coaching and integrated group coaching for Grade 4 and 5 officials (one night, two days).
