Fears of Ceasefire Collapse... Israeli Military Launches Airstrikes on Gaza Strip
Drone Pursuit
Airstrike Targets Two Attempting to Retrieve Drone
The Israeli military carried out airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on February 12 (local time), amid concerns that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas could collapse.
The Israeli military announced that on the morning of the same day, it detected a drone flying from Israeli territory into the Gaza Strip. The military tracked the drone and conducted an airstrike targeting two individuals who attempted to retrieve the drone after it arrived in southern Gaza.
The Israeli military stated, "Several recent attempts to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip using drones have been identified," and emphasized, "The Israeli military will not tolerate any terrorist activities and will continue to take necessary actions to protect the safety of its citizens."
On February 10, Hamas announced that it would indefinitely postpone the release of hostages, originally scheduled for February 15, claiming that Israel had violated the ceasefire agreement by delaying the return of residents to northern Gaza, firing on civilians, and blocking the delivery of humanitarian aid such as fuel and tents.
