"Junior Assault Controversy" Yang Ik-jun Refutes: "Completely Different from the Facts"
"When the Truth Comes Out, People Will Either Laugh in Disbelief or Be Shocked"
Actor and director Yang Ik-jun, who has been embroiled in controversy over allegedly assaulting a junior colleague, firmly denied the charges. On the 12th, before the premiere of his starring film 'Confession' held at Lotte Cinema Konkuk University Entrance in Seoul, he said, "I met (the accuser) to help and had a friendly conversation with a smile, but I was sued for assault," adding, "Mr. Choi's (the accuser's) statements are completely different from the facts."
He stated, "I will once again tell the investigative authorities the facts clearly and accurately without a 1mm error," and confidently said, "When the truth comes out, people will either laugh in disbelief or be shocked."
Yang Ik-jun was accused last December of hitting the head of film staff member Mr. Choi multiple times with a crumpled paper bundle and verbally abusing him at a pub he operates in Seongbuk-gu. The police, who launched an investigation, forwarded the case to the prosecution on the 10th.
After the incident became public, Mr. Choi claimed, "During a briefing, Yang Ik-jun scolded me several times because he didn't like my tone. I was hit multiple times with A4 sheets totaling 20 to 30 pages."
