Cheonan Pear Horticultural Cooperative President Election: Appeal Trial Also Invalid Due to One-Vote Difference
Park Sungkyu's Appeal Dismissed... Former Candidate Yoo Youngo Says "Justice Has Prevailed"
The court has once again ruled the Cheonan Bae Horticultural Agricultural Cooperative union president election invalid in the appellate trial, where the result was decided by a single vote.
On the 12th, the Daejeon High Court Civil Division 3-2 dismissed the appeal filed by union president Park Sungkyu and ruled in favor of the plaintiff, former candidate Yoo Youngo.
Former candidate Yoo filed a lawsuit claiming that in the union president election held in March 2023, Park mobilized ineligible union members who did not have voting rights.
Out of approximately 1,100 union members, 921 participated in the election, and Park was elected by a margin of just one vote, receiving 461 votes.
According to the Seobuk-gu Election Commission in Cheonan, if Park does not appeal or if the Supreme Court finalizes the ruling, a by-election will be held within 30 days.
In a phone interview that day, former candidate Yoo said, "I believe justice has prevailed. I thank the court for its wise judgment," adding, "I will announce my detailed position after reviewing the verdict."
