Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Proves Excellence of Inclusive Education Policies for Migrant Youth
Grand Prize at the Local Government Policy Awards
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, announced on the 11th that it received the Grand Prize at the 2024 Local Administration Innovation Awards hosted by the Korean Association for Local Government Studies.
In this evaluation, the district was highly praised for reflecting the local characteristic that 56% of its residents are foreigners, working to reduce the educational gap for youth with migrant backgrounds, nurturing talent, and creating a stable settlement environment in the community.
Furthermore, the district was recognized for resolving discrimination and conflict within the local community while supporting language and learning, play and culture, psychological and emotional well-being, and region-specific career experiences.
Park Byungkyu, the head of the district office, said, "We will continue to strengthen social integration through various policies and create an environment where everyone can grow together."
