Guro-gu Event Supports 'Sign Language Interpretation'... Enhancing Convenience for Hearing and Speech Disabled
Interpreter Dispatch for District-Hosted Events...
Expanding Participation Opportunities for People with Hearing and Speech Disabilities through Smooth Information Access
Active Support for Major Events in Cooperation with Guro-gu Sign Language Interpretation Center
Guro-gu announced that it will assign sign language interpreters to district-hosted events in 2025 to enhance information accessibility for people with hearing and speech disabilities.
This "Guro-gu District-Hosted Event Sign Language Support Project" is based on Article 22 of the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, Article 16 of the Korean Sign Language Act, and Article 5 of the Seoul Metropolitan City Guro-gu Korean Sign Language Activation Support Ordinance, aiming to improve convenience for people with hearing and speech disabilities.
The dispatch of interpreters will be carried out in cooperation with the Guro-gu Sign Language Interpretation Center, providing sign language interpretation services at major events this year.
The district expects that with this sign language interpreter support, people with hearing and speech disabilities will not be excluded from information, actively participate in events, and fully experience various information and programs.
A Guro-gu official stated, "An environment where everyone can access and experience information without discrimination is most important, and continuous support and consideration are necessary for this," adding, "We will continue to lead efforts to reduce communication difficulties for people with hearing and speech disabilities and ensure their smooth participation in events."
