Court Orders Gaseyeon to Pay Song Young-gil 10 Million Won in Damages for False Prostitution Allegations
The court ruled that the YouTube channel 'Garosero Research Institute' (Gaseyeon) and its cast must pay 10 million won in damages for mentioning false prostitution allegations against Song Young-gil, the representative of Sonamudang (former leader of the Democratic Party).
On the 7th, the Seoul High Court Criminal Division 13 (Presiding Judges Baek Gang-jin, Kim Seon-hee, Lee In-su) delivered a judgment in the appeal trial of the damages lawsuit filed by Representative Song against Gaseyeon, Gaseyeon representative Kim Se-ui, and lawyer Kang Yong-seok, ruling partially in favor of the plaintiff as in the first trial.
In late December 2021, Gaseyeon posted a video revisiting the prostitution allegations against Representative Song, which had previously been judged false by the Supreme Court. Representative Song filed a damages claim worth approximately 700 million won and applied for a provisional injunction to ban the posting of the video.
