Dongjak-gu Launches Full-Scale ESG Comprehensive Implementation Plan
Formation of ESG Promotion Council Including Public, Private, and Corporate Sectors
Up to 20 Million KRW Support for Public-Private Cooperative Projects
Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 7th that it has established the "2025 Dongjak-gu ESG Comprehensive Promotion Plan" in response to the ESG era.
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance, referring to fulfilling and practicing sustainable responsibilities in response to emerging issues such as the climate crisis, environmental problems, and social changes.
In December 2022, the district enacted related ordinances to lay the foundation for promoting ESG projects and has been preparing to adapt to the changing social environment. Accordingly, this year, under the vision of "Sustainable NEXT City, Dongjak," a comprehensive promotion plan was established focusing on building the ESG promotion foundation, strengthening public-private cooperative projects, and spreading ESG awareness.
First, to realize a sustainable local community, the district will conduct an "ESG Management Awareness Survey" targeting affiliated organizations, related institutions, and major companies. Following this, a promotion council will be formed and operated to spread ESG and strengthen capabilities. The council will be divided into a core type, consisting of the district office, universities, companies, and affiliated/related institutions, and a diffusion type, composed of functional organizations and residents.
Additionally, the district will promote a public-private cooperative project for companies, corporations, and organizations practicing ESG management, providing up to 20 million KRW per project. Social contribution projects will also be carried out on themes discovered and selected by the promotion council.
To spread ESG awareness, forums and training sessions, including expert and corporate guest lectures, will be held for the promotion council and district employees. Referring to the K-ESG guidelines, 18 fields of the "Dongjak-gu ESG Indicators" have been selected and will be intensively managed in connection with sustainable development performance indicators.
