View original imageJeollanam-do signed a business agreement with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) on the 5th to support the employment of athletes with disabilities.
The signing ceremony, held at KEPCO, was attended by Myung Changhwan, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Jeollanam-do, Ahn Jungeun, Vice President of KEPCO, Lee Sanggap, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Economy of Gwangju City, Song Junseop, Head of the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities, and about 30 others.
The main points of the agreement include: ▲ discovering athletes with disabilities, supporting their training and participation in competitions, and promoting sports for the disabled ▲ enhancing employment and supporting sports activities for athletes with disabilities ▲ creating jobs for people with disabilities through employment support for athletes with disabilities. Both parties agreed to actively cooperate in employment support to ensure stable athletic careers for athletes with disabilities.
According to the agreement, KEPCO will newly hire 60 athletes with disabilities. This is the largest single employment scale for athletes with disabilities nationwide.
The 60 athletes with disabilities hired this time include 30 from Jeollanam-do and 30 from Gwangju. In particular, among the athletes from Jeollanam-do are top performers in 17 sports, including Heo Yunjung, the current national cycling team member, as well as shooting, soccer, volleyball, athletics, rowing, and more. Their morale is expected to be boosted, leading to even better results.
Since 2016, Jeollanam-do has been promoting the "corporate-linked employment support project" together with the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities to help stabilize the livelihoods of athletes with disabilities.
