"Warming Body and Mind"... Dongkuk Steel Group Supports Production Sites During Cold Wave with 'Ddaddeuth Day'
Warming Up On-Site Workers During Shift Changes
Dongkuk Steel Group's Dongkuk Steel and Dongkuk CM announced on the 5th that they held the ‘DK Warm Day’ event for production site workers amid an unprecedented ‘Ipchun cold wave’.
DK Warm Day is an event linked to the ‘DK Ice Day’ event that Dongkuk Steel Group holds every summer. It has been implemented since last year to boost the morale of workers in harsh winter conditions and improve working conditions.
Dongkuk Steel set up food trucks at the cafeterias, office buildings, and welfare centers of its Incheon, Dangjin, and Pohang plants, providing warm winter snacks such as fish cake and bungeoppang to about 1,800 on-site workers during shift changes.
Dongkuk CM shared warmth with Ajou Steel, which became part of the family this year. A total of 2,025 employees, including those at the headquarters, Busan plant, Doseong Center, as well as Ajou Steel’s Gimcheon plant, Gumi plant, and Gwangmyeong Design Center, received fish cake, bungeoppang, hamburgers, and other items according to the requested locations, times, and items.
A worker at the Busan plant, Mr. A, said, "After Ipchun, the sudden cold weather made the site somewhat tense, but it was nice to have a moment to warm up with warm snacks, communicate, and smile."
Dongkuk Steel Group has designated a special safety emphasis period to ensure that workers can work safely during the severe cold season. Through safety campaigns at each workplace, they distribute hot packs and cold-weather gear and conduct fire prevention and winter safety management activities.
