From the 7th to the 21st, Jeollanam-do will accept applications from cities and counties, select around three tourist destinations, and actively gather consulting opinions from the tourism disadvantaged and experts to create an environment focused on actual users.
Selected tourist destinations will see improvements such as ▲ renovation of convenience facilities like parking lots and restrooms for accessibility ▲ installation of ramps and braille blocks to improve movement routes between facilities ▲ development of permanent tourism content. Approximately 200 million KRW will be invested per site, with a total project budget of 600 million KRW.
Notably, this year’s project includes the installation of nursing rooms and diaper changing stations (including in men's restrooms), security equipment (such as safety bells), and the provision of wheelchairs and strollers.
Meanwhile, Jeollanam-do enacted the “Jeollanam-do Barrier-Free Tourism Environment Creation and Support Ordinance” in 2019 and has been implementing tourism environment improvement projects annually. So far, a total of 5.5 billion KRW has been provided to 29 locations, including Sebang Sunset Observatory in Jindo, the birthplace of Choui Seonsa in Muan, and Baegaldo Waterfront Park in Gwangyang.
