Suwon City Supports 'Economic and Emotional Mentoring' for Youth Preparing for Independence
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is providing 'economic and emotional mentoring' support to youth preparing for independence.
Youth preparing for independence refers to young people who have been under protection in child welfare facilities or foster care and are preparing to live independently after their protection ends at age 18 (or up to 24 upon their request).
Since 2022, Suwon City has been running the 'Share House CON' project, which supports those who have left or are about to leave child welfare facilities by providing a communal living space where they can live rent-free for two years.
Suwon City will conduct a mentoring program for youth preparing for independence on the 4th in collaboration with the Hansaram Foundation. Lee Jae-jun, Mayor of Suwon (fourth from the left), is taking a commemorative photo after the signing ceremony. Photo by Suwon City
