Lotte Chilsung Establishes Label Review System... "Enhancing Efficiency with Generative AI"
Lotte Chilsung Beverage announced on the 3rd that it has established an AI Label InSpection System (AILISS) that utilizes generative artificial intelligence (AI) to review product label information.
Lotte Chilsung Beverage automated the review of product label information by leveraging AI technologies such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR), AI agents, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). The system was developed to improve work efficiency and accuracy by moving away from manual review of product-related information and Food Safety Korea item data by employees.
The OCR technology can recognize various product labels with 95% accuracy, even for complex fonts that include design elements, through training on label images. It extracts text and classifies information requiring review, such as food type, ingredients, and nutritional content, using generative AI.
The AI agent technology automates the product label information review process by independently analyzing data and verifying errors. It not only checks for typos but also visualizes extracted text and cross-references it with research reports and checklists to validate the details. By replacing manual work with AI, the system reduced the product label review time, which previously took over 30 minutes, by more than 50% while improving accuracy.
The Retrieval-Augmented Generation chatbot is a system that uses an AI chatbot to review and respond in real time to the vast amount of legal information that employees previously had to search and verify individually. By handling 50% of repetitive and simple legal inquiries through the chatbot, it reduced the time spent on legal review and inquiry responses. It also helps prevent legal risks arising from labeling violations.
