Heavy Snow Advisory Issued for Seoul and Gyeonggi at 3 PM
Up to 30 cm of Snow Accumulates in Parts of Jeju
During the Lunar New Year holiday period, heavy snow will fall nationwide over two days starting from the 27th, requiring caution due to icy roads and strong winds.

View original imageAccording to the Korea Meteorological Administration on this day, most regions across the country will be mostly cloudy with rain or snow from the 27th to the 28th. As of 3 PM, heavy snow warnings have been issued for Gwangmyeong, Gwacheon, Ansan, Siheung in Gyeonggi Province, as well as the southeastern, northeastern, and northwestern areas of Seoul. A heavy snow warning is issued when more than 5 cm of snow is expected to accumulate within 24 hours.
Strong wind warnings have been issued for 16 areas in Gyeonggi Province, as well as the five West Sea Islands, Gangneung and Taebaek in Gangwon Province, Taean, Dangjin, and Seosan in Chungcheongnam-do, Yeosu, Haenam, and Yeongam in Jeollanam-do, Jeju Island (excluding the southern part), Seoul, and Incheon.
Snow accumulation over one day is as follows: In the Seoul metropolitan area, Incheon 2.3 cm, Seoul 1.1 cm, Suwon 0.5 cm; in Gangwon Province, Hyangrobong (Goseong) 21.7 cm, Anheung (Hoengseong) 15.7 cm, Guryongryeong (Hongcheon) 13.6 cm; in the Chungcheong region, Baegun (Jecheon) 12.1 cm, Gyeryongsan 10.8 cm; in the Jeolla region, Seolcheonbong (Muju) 13.5 cm, Jangsu 101 cm, Baemsagol (Namwon) 8.3 cm; in the Gyeongsang region, Dongno (Mungyeong) 10.4 cm, Hwaseo (Sangju) 9.7 cm, Seokpo (Bonghwa) 8.0 cm; and in Jeju Island, Eorimok 34 cm, Samgakbo 33.6 cm, Sajebi 30 cm.

View original imageUntil this afternoon, rain or snow will temporarily weaken or stop mainly in the Chungnam and Jeolla regions. However, from 6 PM to midnight, snow clouds formed over the West Sea are expected to move in, causing heavy snowfall to resume.
