Jeonnam Province Focuses on Improving Settlement Conditions for Island Residents
Secured 19.2 Billion KRW for Maritime Transportation and Daily Logistics Support
Promoting Six Projects Including the Nation's First "1,000 KRW Passenger Ferry"

The "1,000 KRW Passenger Ferry Fare Support Project for Island Residents," which Jeollanam-do was the first in the nation to implement to guarantee the right to mobility and improve living conditions for island residents, is now being expanded to local governments across the country as a model case. The logistics cost support project is also receiving great positive feedback from residents.
Accordingly, this year Jeollanam-do plans to invest 17.2 billion KRW in three passenger-related projects including the "1,000 KRW Passenger Ferry Fare Support for Island Residents" to improve maritime transportation convenience, and 2 billion KRW in three logistics-related projects covering additional courier fees and daily necessities transportation costs incurred in island areas.
Park Youngchae, Director of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Bureau of Jeollanam-do, said, "To improve the settlement conditions for island residents, we will continue to discover necessary projects through field-oriented resident communication administration and strive to secure financial resources such as national funds to consistently promote policies for island residents."
