Musk Explores Blockchain Use to Improve US Government Efficiency
Head of Government Efficiency Department in Second Trump Administration
Tasked with Maximizing Government Efficiency and Productivity
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is reportedly exploring ways to utilize blockchain technology to improve the efficiency of government agencies, Bloomberg reported on the 25th (local time).
Musk also serves as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the second Trump administration. DOGE is tasked with modernizing federal government technology and software to maximize government efficiency and productivity.
According to sources, Musk is researching ways to reduce government operating costs using blockchain and has begun discussions on the topic. The discussion subjects reportedly include the use of blockchain for federal expenditure tracking, data security, payment processing, and building management.
Another source revealed that officials from the Department of Government Efficiency met with representatives from various public blockchains to evaluate their technologies.
Bloomberg noted that since the name 'DOGE' is derived from the cryptocurrency Dogecoin, the discussions about utilizing blockchain technology are considered natural.
DOGE is collaborating with the White House Office of Management and Budget to identify ways to cut spending and plans to complete recommendations by July next year. It is reported that Musk recruited about one million volunteers before President Trump's inauguration and had them write code for his project.
