Payments Begin Tomorrow
Jeollanam-do will provide emergency livelihood stabilization funds of 300,000 won per person, totaling 3.5 billion won, to 11,297 bus and taxi drivers starting from the 24th, ahead of the Lunar New Year.
This support has been prepared to help stabilize the livelihoods of transportation workers who are struggling due to rising operating costs and a decrease in passengers.
The recipients include 1,038 intercity bus drivers, 2,227 city and rural bus drivers, 1,908 chartered bus drivers, 3,723 individual taxi drivers, and 2,401 corporate taxi drivers.
Jeollanam-do was the first in the nation to provide government disaster relief funds to transportation workers facing difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Seo Youngbae, head of the Jeollanam-do Transportation Administration Division, said, "I hope this will be a small consolation for transportation workers who have been suffering from both a decrease in passengers and rising fuel prices," and added, "We will continue to do our best to improve the treatment of the transportation industry and workers and to develop high-quality policies."
