Dr. Chung's Food Cheongju Plant, Korea's Largest Soy Milk Production Base, Earns Smart HACCP Certification
Strengthening Safety Through Systematic Process Management
Enhancing Consumer Trust Expected
On January 23, Dr. Chung's Food announced that its Cheongju plant has received the 'Smart HACCP' certification from the Korea Agency of HACCP Accreditation and Services.
The Cheongju plant of Dr. Chung's Food, completed in 1984, is the largest soy milk production facility in Korea and can produce approximately 3 million units of products such as Vegemil per day. This certification, granted in December of last year, covers all 14 product categories, including processed soy milk produced at the Cheongju plant.
Smart HACCP is a system that integrates advanced information and communication technology (ICT) into the existing HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) food safety management system, enabling automatic data recording and real-time management. The entire process of collecting, managing, and analyzing HACCP-related data is digitalized, and the system includes automated monitoring of critical control points (CCP), ICT convergence, and the utilization of food safety big data.
Dr. Chung's Food has promoted its smart factory initiative in collaboration with Nongshim Engineering. Through a customized system specialized for soy milk production, the company aims to establish a differentiated quality management system and lead the digital transformation of its manufacturing processes.
A Dr. Chung's Food representative stated, "By obtaining not only the existing HACCP certification but also this new Smart HACCP certification, we expect to further strengthen the systematic management and safety of our processes, thereby increasing consumer trust," and added, "We will continue to strive for even more efficient and thorough quality control in the future."

Meanwhile, after being selected for the 'Smart Eco-Factory Construction Project' by the Korea Environment Corporation in 2023, the Cheongju plant of Dr. Chung's Food has successfully carried out the project. The plant is working to create a sustainable food manufacturing environment by introducing a boiler economizer and reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through the recovery of waste heat from exhaust gases.
