Asan City Council to Hold Special Session on 23rd to Elect New Chairperson
Kim Miyeong of the Democratic Party and Lee Giae of the People Power Party Mentioned as Candidates
The Asan City Council in Chungnam will hold a one-point special session at 10 a.m. on the 23rd to conduct a by-election for the council chairperson.
This special session was convened as a follow-up measure after Chairperson Hong Seongpyo submitted his resignation letter following controversy caused by attending his alma mater's graduation ceremony while intoxicated.
The by-election is scheduled to take place after Hong's resignation is officially accepted.
The city council currently has a total of 17 seats, with the Democratic Party of Korea holding 9 seats and the People Power Party holding 8.
Among the Democratic Party of Korea, Kim Miyeong and others are being mentioned as candidates, while among the People Power Party, Lee Giae and others are being discussed.
