According to Chosun University on the 22nd, the first and second issues of the journal, published in June and December last year, respectively, received a large number of submissions from researchers with significant academic impact both domestically and internationally.
In the first volume, issue two, many studies by renowned scholars with an H-index of 7 or higher, indicating research influence, were included. Among international researchers, Rita Brdar-Szabo and Mario Brdar drew attention by presenting a theoretical framework for language convergence research while discussing the conceptual blending process between sign language and spoken language.
Distinguished professor Lee Seongha, a world-renowned scholar, demonstrated through his paper "Analogy-Based Intercategory Grammaticalization: A Case of Accuracy in Korean" that "Sign Language Studies and Language Convergence Research" has established itself as a platform for global academic exchange.
Additionally, Professor James Hye Suk Yoon and Professor Chongwon Park explored the potential for convergence between formalist and functionalist approaches by analyzing multiple nominative constructions in Korean.
Domestic researchers have also made remarkable contributions. Professor Lim Jiryong, emeritus professor at Kyungpook National University, expanded the field of sign language studies by deeply analyzing the characteristics and linguistic implications of North Korean sign language dictionaries, opening possibilities for comparative research between North and South Korean sign languages.
Professor Park Myungkwan of Dongguk University also discussed the potential integration of artificial intelligence and language research by exploring grammatical transfer in second language neural language models.
Choi Youngju, director of the Institute for Language Convergence at Chosun University, stated, "'Sign Language Studies and Language Convergence Research' has increased its academic contribution from the early stages of publication by attracting papers from renowned scholars with high H-indexes both domestically and internationally, opening a new horizon for research in sign language studies and language convergence."
