'2025 New Year's Concert with Nowon Residents' Held
To Be Held at Nowon Cultural Arts Center Grand Theater on February 7
Featuring Western Symphony Orchestra, Choi Jungwon, La Poem, and More
A Stage Blending Classical, Musical, and Crossover Genres to Deliver a Message of Hope for the New Year
Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will present the "2025 New Year's Concert with Nowon Residents" to welcome the new year.
This New Year's concert was prepared to encourage the local community to support each other and share healing and hope through music, despite the stagnant atmosphere caused by the economic downturn.
The concert will be held on February 7 at the Nowon Cultural Arts Center Grand Theater, with two sessions at 4 PM and 7 PM, each lasting 100 minutes.
The first session will be a free performance inviting various groups such as elementary school orchestra members from the area, reclusive and vulnerable youth, people with disabilities and their parents, and contributors to district administration. The second session will be a paid performance for the general audience.
The main performers include the Western Symphony Orchestra (hereafter WSO), saxophonist Kim Seong-hoon, musical actor Choi Jung-won, and the crossover male quartet group La Poem (with three members Yoo Chae-hoon, Jung Min-sung, and Choi Seong-hoon performing). The diverse stage combining classical, musical, and crossover genres promises to offer the audience a special musical experience.
The stage will begin with a performance by the WSO conducted by conductor Bang Seong-ho. Leading the popularization of classical music through reinterpretation, WSO will present a wide range of repertoires crossing genres, including traditional classical pieces, a medley of Studio Ghibli animation OSTs, and the Arirang Fantasy.
The featured soloist is saxophonist Kim Seong-hoon, who has been actively collaborating with prestigious orchestras such as the MBC Orchestra and the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra.
Also, Choi Jung-won, a representative actor of the Korean musical scene with 34 years of experience, and the crossover male quartet group La Poem will illuminate the stage together. Audiences can enjoy a broad musical composition, moving between the lively mood of familiar musical numbers like "All That Jazz" from Chicago and "Dancing Queen" from Mamma Mia, and the solemn mood of pieces like Miserere.
Ticket reservations for the paid performance will be divided into ▲February 22 for "Nowon Mania pre-sale" and ▲February 23 for "general sale." To prevent ticketing congestion, the district plans to diversify ticketing channels. Nowon Mania paid members can book through the Nowon Cultural Foundation website, while the general audience can reserve tickets via Interpark Ticket (online and phone). Detailed information such as seat pricing can be found on the Nowon Cultural Foundation website. Wheelchair seats can also be reserved by phone.
District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, "The New Year's concert presented at the Nowon Cultural Arts Center is an opportunity to quench the thirst for arts and culture close to home," adding, "We will strive to present good cultural performances throughout the year to satisfy the cultural needs of our residents."
