On the 17th, Gwangju Nambu Police Station announced that it had held a crime prevention response strategy meeting for special security activities ahead of the Lunar New Year, with participation from all departments (Public Affairs, Administration, Crime Prevention and Response, Women and Youth, Investigation, Criminal Affairs, Security and Intelligence, and Traffic).
This strategy meeting was held to create a holiday atmosphere that residents can feel, taking into account the need to establish solid public safety amid recent national crises and to proactively respond to the increasing demand for security during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.
According to an analysis of 112 emergency call data during the holiday period, the daily average number of 112 calls increased by 142 cases during last year's Lunar New Year holiday compared to the previous year.
By type, reports related to 'major crimes, public order maintenance, and traffic' have continued to rise, indicating the need for proactive measures to prevent crime and ensure safety during this year's Lunar New Year holiday.
This special security activity will be carried out in three phases over 11 days from the 25th to the 30th.
The Nambu Police Station will analyze the current security situation in advance, inspect crime-prone factors, and establish customized security measures through crime prevention response strategy meetings. In addition, by actively utilizing both internal and external personnel for visible patrols, the station plans to strengthen community policing and systematically block potential risks at each stage.
