Gwangju Hope Ladder Foundation Provides 'SOS Support Fund' for Students Who Lost Family in Aircraft Disaster

for Student Family Members of Jeju Air Disaster Victims
The Gwangju Hope Ladder Education Foundation has decided to provide "SOS Support Funds" to assist student family members of the victims of the "December 29 Jeju Air Passenger Plane Disaster."
The foundation announced on the 17th that it convened an emergency board meeting the previous day to discuss support measures for student family members affected by the Jeju Air disaster and decided to provide "SOS Support Funds."
The SOS Support Fund is a program that assists students at risk of discontinuing their studies due to emergencies such as disasters or calamities.
According to the city Office of Education, there are a total of 15 student family members affected by this disaster: 1 kindergarten student, 4 elementary school students, 3 middle school students, and 7 high school students.
The foundation has decided to provide 2.5 million won per student and will accept relevant documents this month, with the aim of distributing the support funds by next month.
Superintendent Lee Jungseon said, "I would like to express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster," and added, "I hope this emergency support will be of some help to the students in these families who are facing difficulties."
Meanwhile, the Gwangju Hope Ladder Education Foundation operates programs to support socially disadvantaged students, foster future talent, provide cultural experience and communication days for education families, and support students in child welfare facilities to ensure fair educational opportunities.
