Voluntary Resignation... 10 Months Remaining in Term
It has been confirmed that Monk Wonmyeong (secular name Kim Jong-min), the temple manager of Bongeunsa Temple who was serving as a non-standing member of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK), has resigned from his non-standing position.
According to the Buddhist community and the NHRCK, Monk Wonmyeong submitted his resignation to the commission on the morning of the 16th. His term, which began on November 22, 2022, had about 10 months remaining.

Previously, he co-proposed the "Recommendation on Measures to Overcome the National Crisis Caused by the Declaration of Martial Law" together with standing member Kim Yong-won and non-standing members Han Seok-hoon, Lee Han-byeol, and Kang Jeong-hye. Upon learning of this, Buddhist-related organizations such as the Pan-Buddhist National Situation Committee criticized him and demanded his resignation.
