Dangjin City Implements Price Stabilization Measures Ahead of Lunar New Year
Focusing on Price Stabilization
by Announcing Prices of Key Managed Items Until the 24th
Dangjin City in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 16th that, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, it will strive to stabilize prices and establish a sound commercial order by providing consumers with accurate price information.
The city has designated the period from the 13th to the 24th as a special countermeasure period, during which public officials and consumer organizations will jointly monitor price trends of key holiday goods.
The key holiday goods under intensive management include 20 items: apples, pears, chestnuts, onions, napa cabbage, green onions, chili peppers, garlic, croaker, pollack, gim (dried seaweed), squid, beef, pork, chicken, eggs, sesame oil, cooking oil (soybean oil), tofu, and flour.
In addition, to establish a sound distribution and trading order, the city will also inspect retail stores, neighborhood shops, large-scale stores, and semi-large stores to check compliance with regulations on displaying selling prices, unit prices, and the prohibition of displaying suggested retail prices, thereby preventing consumer damage.
Park Jaekeun, head of the Regional Economy Division, stated, "We will do our utmost to stabilize prices of holiday goods so that citizens can enjoy a warm and comfortable Lunar New Year holiday."
