Haman-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 16th that it will impose 183.65 million KRW in regular registration license tax (license category) for 15,342 cases in 2025.
The taxpayers for the regular registration license tax are those who hold various licenses stipulated by law as of the tax base date (January 1), and the tax is imposed differentially according to the type of license: 27,000 KRW for type 1, 18,000 KRW for type 2, 12,000 KRW for type 3, 9,000 KRW for type 4, and 4,500 KRW for type 5.
However, starting this year, the Enforcement Decree of the Local Tax Act has been revised to allow tax exemption if the business is actually closed by December 31, 2024, and the closure is reported under the Value-Added Tax Act by January 25, 2025.
An official from Haman-gun stated, “If the payment deadline of January 31 for the registration license tax (license) is missed, a 3% late payment surcharge will be added, and various disadvantages such as license cancellation or restrictions on authorized business may occur,” and urged, “Please make sure to pay within the deadline.”
The payment period is from the 16th to the 31st, and payments can be made directly at all financial institutions nationwide. Payment by credit card is also possible at cash deposit/withdrawal machines (CD/ATM), the Tax Accounting Division of the county office, and the eup/myeon offices.
