It researches the history, culture, and science of telephones and communication by utilizing materials that show historical records and the zeitgeist of the artifacts.
The artifacts targeted for purchase include communication and telephone-related photographs, communication permits, promotional materials from the 1950s to the 1980s, and limited edition communication devices, development materials, telephone photographs, and promotional posters from the 1960s to the 2010s.
Individuals, cultural property dealers, corporations, or organizations wishing to sell artifacts may apply; however, illegal artifacts such as excavated goods, stolen items, and forgeries are not eligible.
The artifact purchase process involves document screening (first stage), followed by physical submission (second stage) only for evaluated artifacts, and then a final purchase decision through artifact appraisal review. Document submissions can be made in person, by registered mail, or by email. The submission period is until February 16.
For artifacts that pass the document screening, individual notifications will be sent before physical submissions proceed. At the time of physical submission, the original artifact, artifact photographs, and the seller’s seal must be submitted together. The results of the artifact appraisal review are expected to be notified in April 2025, and upon purchase confirmation, a sales contract will be signed, transferring ownership to the Yeoju Municipal Phone Museum.
