Gyeonggi-do Offers Free 'Wage Arrears Intensive Consultation' Until the 24th Ahead of Lunar New Year
Mobile Consultation Offices at Suwon Station, Uijeongbu Station, and Seojeong-ri Station
Telephone Consultations Available During the Lunar New Year Holiday
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 16th that it will operate a free "Intensive Wage Arrears Consultation during the Lunar New Year Period" until the 24th to resolve wage arrears issues ahead of the Lunar New Year.
This consultation, operated by the Gyeonggi Labor Rights Center, was established to protect the rights and support the livelihoods of workers in the province. The center plans to provide consultation services for the prompt resolution of issues faced by workers suffering from wage arrears.
If wage arrears are confirmed through the consultation, the center will encourage employers to resolve the arrears and, in cases of non-payment, guide workers through rights protection procedures and the Korea Workers' Compensation & Welfare Service's living expense loan system. Additionally, for employers struggling to pay wages due to business downturns, assistance will be provided through the "Wage Arrears Settlement Support Employer Loan System."
Last year, the Gyeonggi Labor Rights Center conducted a total of 3,039 consultations, of which 1,140 were related to wage arrears. When additional support is needed after initial consultations, the center connects workers with local village labor attorneys for in-depth consultations and rights protection.
The consultations are held daily from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until the 24th at the Gyeonggi Labor Rights Center Southern Branch located on the 2nd floor of Suwon Station. Additionally, in cooperation with regional labor rights centers, mobile consultation offices will be operated twice during the period at Uijeongbu Station and Seojeong-ri Station subway stations, and telephone consultations will be available during the Lunar New Year holiday period (January 28?30).
